Aims of  BINAstoria

Since working together and building relationships is indispensable in taking care for patients with IBD, we strive for a good collaboration with different stakeholders.

Underneath we emphasize on the patients, nurses and study coordinators, but even other stakeholders as doctors, other hospital related staff members, patient association, pharmaceutical industry,…. are important.

BINAstoria aims to:

  • facilitate and provide an effective framework for communication and cooperation
  • support IBD nurses and IBD study coordinators so they can offer IBD patients:
    • an accessible and low-threshold contact point
    • holistic care, together with a multidisciplinary team
  • organize education for patients in strong collaboration with other stakeholders
  • offer the opportunity to meet, share experiences and learn from each other:
    • yearly two formal meetings and a big national meeting on the Belgian Week of Gastroenterology (BWGE)
    • BINAstoria newsletter two times a year
    • several workshops in partnership with the pharmaceutical industry
    • informal networking by e-mail, phone,...
    • close collaboration and cooperation with
      • gastroenterologists (BIRD)
      • N-ECCO (Nurses - European Crohn and Colitis organisation)
      • patient associations
  • full recognition of the job as IBD nurse
  • optimization of IBD research centers
  • collaboration between research units
  • share information and experiences
  • work with same strategies
  • optimization of transfer from patients in clinical trials to standard IBD care and vice versa
  • strengthen the position of Belgium as area for IBD clinical trials in academic and nonacademic sites
