The Belgian IBD Research and Development group (BIRD) is a non-profit organization that represents all IBD healthcare professionals in Belgium. 

BIRD is the result of a collaboration of stakeholders committed to improving the lives of Belgian IBD patients. We count over 230 gastroenterologists and translational scientists (IBD specialists) actively involved in the management of IBD patients and over 160 IBD (study) nurses and IBD study-coordinators (and other allied health professionals with interest in IBD).

BIRD is composed of a governing board and several committees, supporting our focus on education and research in the field of IBD to improve the quality of care of IBD patients.  SciCom evaluates study proposals and coordinates ongoing trials.  EduCom is dedicated to improving the clinical and scientific knowledge amongst IBD professionals.  BINAstoria connects and supports IBD allied health professionals involved in the care of IBD patients.

In addition we interact with the IBD patient organizations, the government and regulatory authorities (KCE, FAGG, RIZIV/INAMI) as well as close interaction with our pharma partners.
